I wanted to give each hero some unique magic items and feats that would make them feel like the characters they were inspired by. I was limited to working within a certain point range, which was a challenge in itself. However, I managed to create builds for several popular Marvel heroes without breaking the bank (or rather, exceeding my 40-point limit). I did avoid building Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver since I haven't had a chance to see the new movie yet. ![]() These builds aren't designed to exactly replicate the powers of each hero, but rather to capture their essence and make them playable in a combat-focused one-shot campaign. I drew inspiration from the Marvel 1602 comic by Neil Gaiman, which features powerful heroes in a medieval setting. This sparked my imagination to create a similar scenario with D&D 5E. Some might argue that creating builds for superheroes is a lazy form of character building, as it's not original content. However, I believe that using existing characters as inspiration can be a fun and creative way to build unique characters in a game like D&D 5E. As Avengers: Age of Ultron continues to break box office records worldwide, I couldn't help but think about how I would bring these iconic heroes to life on the tabletop. With the power of the D&D 5E character builder at my fingertips, I was able to create builds that would make any superhero fan proud.
